"Outsiders" is the seventh episode in the third series of the BBC spy drama Spooks. It aired for the first time on 22 November 2004, and is the twenty-third episode overall.

Synopsis[]

The agents deal with a wave of computer crime which has seen the ingredients of painkillers tampered with, bank balances erased and traffic lights disrupted to devastating effect. Ruth believes it may be the work of an Islamic terrorist faction and enlists the aid of the National Hi-Tech Crime Unit to uncover the truth. Meanwhile, Danny comes under pressure to reveal what has happened to Zoe.

Plot[]

A computer hacker has laced poison into paracetamols. While Section D works to find the party responsible, the hackers wiped out several bank accounts. This is followed by manipulating traffic lights, and redirecting 999 calls to sex chat lines. Their first belief that Islamic extremists are responsible is debunked; the man responsible was the man that supposedly assisted Section D in the operation.

Due to the seriousness of the threat, the team lace a coat of venom to the diamonds in the ransom; he takes the payment and dies later. Meanwhile, Danny has trouble dealing with the loss of Zoe. In the end, he tells Will her whereabouts, and he subsequently moves to Chile to be with Zoe again.
